Quick answers to key questions
These short answers cover the topics interviewers ask about most. Add an example from your own project when you answer.
Basics
- What is Experience Cloud? Experience Cloud lets you build branded websites, such as customer portals, partner portals and help centers, where external users can work with Salesforce data and processes.
- Member-based and login-based licenses? A member-based license is for a named user who can log in as often as needed. A login-based license is for users who visit rarely, and you pay for each login from a purchased pool.
- What is Account Role Optimization (ARO)? ARO reduces the number of roles that Salesforce creates for external accounts, which helps performance in sites with many accounts.
- Single Sign-On and Social Sign-On? With Single Sign-On users log in using the credentials of their company identity provider. With Social Sign-On they use an account from a provider such as Google or Facebook.
Sharing and guest access
- What is external OWD? It is the default access level for external users, separate from the internal OWD. It must be the same or more restrictive than the internal setting.
- What are Sharing Sets? A sharing set gives high-volume external users access to records that are linked to their account or contact. Sharing rules, in contrast, are based on record ownership or criteria and apply to roles and groups.
- What are share groups? Share groups let you share records with other users of the same account when those external users do not have roles.
- What is the guest user profile? Every site has a guest user profile for visitors who are not logged in. Access is very limited by default, and you grant it through the profile and guest user sharing rules. Guest profiles are limited to read and create access on objects.
- A guest user cannot see data shown by an LWC. What could be the reason? Check object and field access on the guest profile, the guest user sharing rules for the records, access to the Apex class used by the component, whether the Apex runs with sharing, and that the component and site are published.
- A guest user cannot update data in an LWC. Why? Guest users cannot be given edit access through the profile, so a direct update fails. Updates must go through carefully written Apex, which is why guest access should always be reviewed with security in mind.
